My Art Doesn’t Rush—And That’s the Point

(Finding Stillness Through the Smallest Creations)
Sometimes I catch myself breathing faster than I should.
Refreshing tabs. Checking replies. Answering notifications that never seem to end.
Trying to stay relevant. Consistent. Present.
The internet doesn’t sleep.
And sometimes, it feels like my art has to run just to keep up.
A blur of trends, content calendars, and invisible pressure.
But then…
I stop.
And I make something.
Creating as Resistance
Every time I sit down to create a design, it feels like a small act of defiance.
Not loud. Not angry. Just... still.
A choice to move slower in a world that wants speed.
I light a candle. I breathe deeper.
I open the blank canvas, not to conquer it, but to listen.
To see what’s waiting beneath the surface of all that noise.
I’m trying to anchor myself.
To return to a space that doesn’t demand I be faster, louder, shinier.
Just true. Just honest. Just mine.
That’s what these designs are.
Even when they end up on something as everyday as a phone case.
They're not trying to shout over the crowd.
They’re just... here. Present. Steady.
And maybe that’s enough.
Maybe that’s what makes them powerful.
What I Put Into a Phone Case
It might seem like a strange object to get emotional over.
But these phone cases I design? They’re like time capsules.
Each one holds a pocket of calm—a visual breath, a pause, a piece of stillness that I needed when I made it.
And maybe someone else needs that too.
Maybe it becomes their reminder.
Because while the world won’t slow down, you can.
Even for a second.
Even for a glance.
Even for the soft curve of color on a case in your hand.
Small Art. Big Weight.
We’re taught that art should be in galleries, or printed big, or hung on pristine white walls.
But I’ve found something magical in small art.
Something humble.
Human.
A phone case you carry in your pocket might hold more meaning than the mural you saw once in a museum.
Because it’s with you.
And if it brings you back to yourself, even for a second, then it’s done its job.
And so have I.

thanks for sharing your thoughts, and a great description of the mania that social media brings.
i’ve recently started doing DMT breath work, that seems to help.
but my anxiety disorder has a hold over me.
I often change my screen saver to my favorite art pieces, but a case sounds like a great idea 🤍
